This Guy Went Blind Because Of One Simple Mistake That So Many People Make Every Night
Although I've never worn contacts, I've heard many stories from my friends about accidentally falling asleep with them, and the weird sensations they've experienced waking up with their contacts still in. Although it seems like a simple mistake, it's a mistake that could cost you. This is the reality for Chad Groeschen, who purchased extended wear contacts thinking he'd be okay to wear them overnight—sadly, he was wrong. What started out as an itchy and blurry eye took a turn for the worse when Chad woke up with extreme pain from a headache, and cloudy vision. He went to Urgent Care and learned that he had Pseudomonas bacteria spreading under his left contact. Although the infection was treatable, the scar tissue left behind has blinded him in his left eye. I can't imagine the heartbreak Chad must be going through to lose his left eye.
It may seem annoying and tedious, but it's important to remember to practice good health and take your contacts out before bed. This tragedy happened so quickly, it could happen to you too!
