This Man's Wife Died Years Ago, But He Still Spends Every Night With Her Corpse

Le Van, a man from Quang Nam province in Vietnam, lost his wife in 2003. Because he couldn’t go to sleep at night without hugging his beloved spouse, he slept on top of her grave for almost two years.

#2 His Wife's Grave

Then one rainy evening, he went to the cemetery and dug up his wife’s corpse. He put the remains in a bag, and because he was afraid of being detected, he "dug a small hole, put her in and filled it.”

#3 Dead Wife Comes Home (2004)

Two months passed and Le Van decided to unearth his wife again. This time, he molded clay around her remains to give her a woman's figure, then he put clothes on her and bought her home. Once home, he placed her in his bed.

#4 Mr. Van's Children

At first when his children found out what he'd done, they panicked, but they couldn't stop him. Mr. Van insisted that his wife was still alive.

The father of seven has a young son who appears as attached to his mom's corpse statue as his father is.

#6 He Dresses The Corpse Statue

Twice daily Mr. Van changes his deceased wife's clothes. He also buys her new clothes saying, “When my wife was alive, she never wore a nice dress so now I have to make many nice clothes for her."

#7 He Buys Cosmetics

He bought lipsticks and face powder to make up the statue corpse. At first, people in his small village thought the cosmetics were for his daughters, but they were for his dead wife.

#8 10 Years Have Passed

Despite other people’s views, Mr. Van is now 64 years old, and it's been years since his story stirred international media. Local authorities have requested he bury his wife, but he's denied them, making it nearly a decade his dead wife's body remains with him.

Mr. Van shows a mobile picture of his wife's corpse statue, he says "People say I’m crazy because I take care of a corpse but I strongly believe that she is always with me. I’ll definitely sleep with her dead body until I die,”
